We provide services through our Gitxsan Learning Centre and as the South Hazelton Contact North BC office to help members of our local community upgrade their education and skills through thousands of courses available in person and online. If you’re interested in getting a certificate, diploma, degree or you just want to learn a new skill, we can help.

Contact North BC
Post Secondary: Get access to online courses with 25 of BC’s public post-secondary schools.
Trades: Learn about starting a lucrative career in trades. In 2022, BC’s Labour Market Outlook found more than 83,000 job openings in a wide variety of skilled apprenticeable industries.
High School: Get your high school diploma or GED. Alternatively, improve your grades in past courses, so you can go on to higher level education.

Financial Aid Guidance: Learn about financial aid options from the BC Government and get help filling out forms by our knowledgeable staff.
Computer Lab & Study Room: Need a computer or a quiet place to study? Drop ins are welcome. Our room is equipped with computers, printers, scanners and laminators. There is also a microwave, fridge, water cooler as well as free coffee, tea and snacks for visitors.

Date: Oct 21 - Nov 1
Location: GDC Office (1425 Aldous St, South Hazelton)
Occupational First Aid Level 3 is the most comprehensive of the introductory first aid courses. During this 70 hour (two week) session, participants will gain both theoretical (classroom) and practical (hands-on) training in a wide variety of medical emergency scenarios. They will also learn all the basic emergency medical techniques that fall under the responsibility of an Occupational First Aid attendant.
There is no previous first aid training required (OFA Level 1 or 2 is NOT required). Candidates must be able to comprehend the information presented and be physically capable of performing the required skills to be issued an OFA certificate.
Initial certification requires full participation & course attendance.
Prerequisites:
Must be at least 16 years old
Must be in good physical shape
Must be committed and have perfect attendance for the full two weeks
It is recommended that individuals complete OFA Level 1 and TE prior to taking OFA3 if they have no experience with First Aid
Additional Training:
To be eligible to be put onto the Gitxsan Safety Services dispatch roster, you must have a valid Driver’s Licence & take online training for:

Occupational First Aid must be taken before Transportation Endorsement (TE) certification.
OFA1 is designed to teach you how to respond to the most common and most life-threatening workplace first aid emergencies, including CPR, bleeding, shock, and sudden medical emergencies.
TE is focused on developing practical skill in patient handling techniques and patient securing procedures.
Prerequisites:
Must be at least 16 years old
Must be in good physical shape

Recertification & Upgrading funding can be accessed up to $1500 for tuition, textbooks, materials, etc. We do not give a living allowance.
Training and courses must be completed by December 31, 2024
